SERP snippet preview: see your title and description the way Google shows them

Type a title and meta description, or fetch them from any URL, and watch a live Google-style preview on desktop and mobile. Widths are measured in pixels, not characters, so you see exactly where Google would cut, including for Bangla, Hindi and Urdu text.

Snippet checks updates as you type

Pixel widths are measured in your browser with Google's fonts (Arial, with Noto/Nirmala fallbacks for Bangla, Devanagari and Urdu) and are close approximations. Google may still rewrite titles and descriptions, especially when they don't match the query or the page.

Why pixels, not characters

Google cuts titles and descriptions by the space they take on screen, not by a character count. A title full of wide letters such as W and M is cut sooner than one with i and l, and scripts such as Bangla and Devanagari take very different widths from English. This preview measures your text with the same fonts Google uses (Arial, plus the system fallback fonts for other scripts) and lays it out in Google’s column widths: about 600 px for a one-line desktop title and two lines of description, and narrower lines on mobile.

How to use it

  1. Optional: paste a URL and press Fetch to load the page’s current title, meta description, site name and favicon.
  2. Edit the title and description. The meters turn amber when Google would truncate, and the preview shows where the ” …” would appear.
  3. Add the search query you are targeting. Google bolds matching words in the snippet, and the preview does too.
  4. Toggle a date, dark mode or Urdu Nastaliq to see how those change the layout.
  5. Read the checks under the preview, then copy your final text into your CMS or SEO plugin.

What the checks mean

  • Title length: whether the title fits the desktop line and the two mobile lines. Put the words that win the click first, because the end is what gets cut.
  • Keyword in title: a title that matches the query and the page’s H1 is less likely to be rewritten by Google.
  • Repeated words and all caps: both look spammy and invite a rewrite.
  • Description length: Google shows roughly two lines on desktop. Very short descriptions are often replaced with text from the page.

Bangla, Hindi and Urdu snippets

Most snippet tools count characters, which is badly wrong for South Asian scripts: a Bangla conjunct such as ক্ষ is several Unicode characters but one visual unit. This tool measures real rendered width and never cuts inside a grapheme cluster, so the truncation point matches what users see. Google shows Urdu in a Naskh-style system font by default; switch on Nastaliq to compare the taller, wider style many Urdu readers prefer. Because fallback fonts differ by device, treat the numbers as close estimates and leave a small margin.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a title tag be?

Aim for the full title to fit about 600 pixels on desktop, which is roughly 50–60 English characters. Put the main keyword and the reason to click first. Length isn’t a ranking factor; truncation just hides your message.

How long should a meta description be?

Around 120–160 English characters usually fits two desktop lines. Lead with the benefit, since mobile shows less. Google may still show different text if it better matches the query.

Why does Google show a different title from mine?

Google rewrites titles that are too long, stuffed with keywords, missing, or that don’t match the page. Keep the title accurate, specific and consistent with the H1.

Does the preview match Google exactly?

It uses Google’s fonts and column widths, so it is very close, but Google changes layouts and adds elements (sitelinks, ratings, dates). Use it to catch truncation and weak copy, not as a pixel-perfect guarantee.

Can I check a page’s other meta tags?

Fetch shows notes for missing or duplicate descriptions and snippet-blocking robots tags. For a complete on-page check, run the free SEO audit, and use the schema generator for rich results.
